New Jersey Citizen Action PAC Endorses Phil Murphy in the Democratic Primary for Governor

Neptune, NJ – New Jersey Citizen Action’s  (NJCA) Political Action Committee endorsed Phil Murphy in the Democratic primary for Governor today, outside the Jersey Shore Medical Center.

“New Jersey is in desperate need of a new leader, a progressive leader, who will fight for all New Jersey families, not only the wealthiest among us. Today, New Jersey Citizen Action is committing our resources and support to elect Phil Murphy as the next Governor of New Jersey, because Phil has committed his leadership to the things that matter most to NJCA and the people we represent. We are proud to extend this endorsement today,” said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director.

New Jersey Citizen Action is the state’s oldest and largest progressive advocacy organization, a coalition of community, labor, religious, environmental, fair housing, women’s, senior, civil rights groups and grassroots activists, representing 100 Affiliate organizations and 60,000 family and individual members.

“We need a strong and progressive Governor to shelter our communities from the worst with which President Trump and this Congress  threaten us. We need a leader who will move our state forward through the many challenges we face. And we face many. We need a leader who can bring people together around progressive policies that can lift us all up. NJCA is ready for a new chapter in our state’s history, one that tells the story of how the people were in need, and the leaders responded, and put the people first. That is why today, we are announcing our endorsement of Phil Murphy in the Democratic primary for New Jersey Governor,” said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director.

NJCA fought for universal health care, good jobs, consumer protection from Wall Street and more for 35 years.

Salowe-Kaye stated, “No New Jersey Democratic candidate in this race has spent more time talking to the people of this state and its leaders than Phil Murphy. And no other Democratic candidate for Governor in New Jersey has put together a more comprehensive and detailed policy agenda to address the state’s many challenges, with more input from people across the state, than Phil Murphy.  Phil is New Jersey’s best, progressive candidate for New Jersey Governor. His Progressive Agenda is the most ambitious 100 day agenda we have seen in our more than 35 years of fighting for social and economic justice, and it strongly mirrors New Jersey Citizen Action’s priorities.”
