New Jersey Citizen Action Slams GOP Health Care Repeal Bill That Would Leave A Million Uninsured, Cost Taxpayers Billions

Highland Park—New Jersey Citizen Action released the following statement today slamming a health care repeal bill introduced that would take health care away from a million Americans, cost the federal government some $51.6 billion and make it much harder for New Jersey working families to obtain health insurance. This latest scheme would change the definition of full-time work to qualify for employer provided health insurance from 30  to 40 hours a week.

“Instead of fighting to support families struggling under the weight of the continued attempts to sabotage our health care system, Republicans have made clear that if they hold control of Congress they will keep coming for the health care of New Jerseyans and are even willing to make them work more to get less in the process,” said Ann Vardeman, New Jersey Citizen Action Program Director. “Tom MacArthur and Republicans might have offered fiscal responsibility and compassion for New Jersey families. Instead, we have seen attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip people with pre-existing conditions of protections, and now we face this latest attempt to punish workers, take our health care, and waste billions in taxpayer dollars. New Jeseyans won’t stand for these repeated and relentless attacks on our care and will remember who supported this bill on election day.”
