TRENTON – As part of its commitment toward ensuring a more diverse civil service workforce, the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (CSC) is scheduled to host a Virtual Law Enforcement Recruitment Forum on Thursday, October 22, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This Forum is part of an ongoing effort by the Civil Service Commission to promote diversity and inclusion within State and Local government. The free event will offer insight on how to apply for the law enforcement exam, and is the ideal opportunity, for diverse candidates seeking to enter the Law Enforcement field, to meet with CSC staff to ask questions related to the application and testing process, as well as hearing from CSC’s partners on the importance of diversity in Law Enforcement.

Confirmed panel participants include representatives from the Muslim American Law Enforcement Association (MALEA), the NJ Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE), and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Other invited panelists include the Hispanic American Law Enforcement Association and representatives from the NJ Department of Corrections and the NJ Department of Human Services.

“We are glad to host this virtual event to promote careers in law enforcement, and will provide resources and assistance to New Jersey residents and let them know that we are here to work for you,” said Deirdré L. Webster Cobb, Esq., Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

“This virtual event will allow us to connect participants with hiring authorities to hear first-hand about requirements for positions and the importance of having a diverse pool of candidates for these positions,” said Dr. Charlie Williams, Executive Director of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Programs.
