New Jersey LCV Lauds Congressional Passage of Historic Climate Change Legislation
New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director, Ed Potosnak, issued the following statement in response to Congress’ passage of the Inflation Reduction Act:
“The House of Representatives has taken a massive step forward in the fight against climate change by sending the landmark Inflation Reduction Act to President Biden for his signature.
The Inflation Reduction Act represents the largest single investment in clean energy in our nation’s history. It is essential to meeting our targets to curb climate pollution and avert a climate catastrophe.
But this landmark law does more than that. By investing $370 billion in climate, the federal government has taken an important step toward building a 21st century economy powered by clean energy that will create millions of good-paying union jobs while lowering energy costs and addressing our nation’s shameful history of environmental racism.
Every Democratic member of New Jersey’s congressional delegation should be congratulated for supporting legislation that will strengthen our economy even as it fights climate change.
While more remains to be done, this legislation takes a historic step forward in securing the future for our state, our nation, and our planet.”
