NEW JERSEY LCV PLEASED WITH PINELANDS NOMINATIONS COMPROMISE

TRENTON – New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak issued the following statement regarding nominations to the Pinelands Commission:

We are pleased that Governor Murphy and the Senate exercised environmental leadership today by moving to advance the nominations of Theresa Lettman, Davon McCurry, and Laura Matos to sit on the Pinelands Commission.

These nominees will bring vitality and expertise to the task of protecting one of New Jersey’s most valuable environmental treasures. We are particularly pleased that this will finally fulfill the dying wish of late Commissioner Candace Ashmun, one of the forces behind the foundation of the Pinelands Commission, to have Lettman succeed her. We know Lettman will be a staunch advocate for the environment and look forward to working with the entire slate of nominations to help them become Pinelands’ champions.

The past week has underscored the critical role that the Pinelands Commission plays in protecting one of our nation’s most sensitive ecosystems and highlights the importance of addressing longstanding vacancies. We look forward to working with Governor Murphy and Senate leaders in the next session to bring the Pinelands Commission back to full strength and reinforce its status as a bulwark of environmental protection.
