New Jersey LCV Statement on the confirmation hearing of Acting Commissioner Catherine McCabe

Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement:

We urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to confirm Acting Commissioner McCabe for the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Acting Commissioner McCabe’s experience in environmental protection, enforcement, and litigation will help New Jersey become a leader again, and make our state the greenest state in America.

New Jersey LCV also sent the following letter in support of Acting Commissioner McCabe to the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee:

——————————————–

Chairman Scutari and the Senate Judiciary Committee,

On behalf of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, I write to express our support for the confirmation of Acting Commissioner Catherine McCabe for the position of Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Catherine McCabe has an outstanding record of environmental protection. She served over two decades in the Department of Justice specializing in environmental issues, then moved to the Environmental Protection Agency. She held several leadership roles within the Agency, and most recently, she served as the Agency’s Deputy Region 2 Administrator in New York City, covering New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico; she also served as Acting EPA Administrator prior to Scott Pruitt’s confirmation.

With a pro-environmental administration, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection will be undertaking many ambitious environmental goals, such as putting New Jersey on a path to 100 percent clean energy by 2050, creating a green economy and good local jobs, and addressing environmental justice. We believe Acting Commissioner McCabe will help the DEP work towards the Murphy Administration’s goals.

Acting Commissioner McCabe’s experience in environmental protection, enforcement, and litigation will help New Jersey become a leader again, and make our state the greenest state in America. We urge you to confirm Catherine McCabe for Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Ed Potosnak

Executive Director

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters
