NEW JERSEY LCV STATEMENT ON SHAM DISCLOSURE BILL

NEW JERSEY LCV STATEMENT ON SHAM DISCLOSURE BILL

TRENTON, NJ- Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement today on S1500, which raises campaign contribution limits and unevenly requires new onerous reporting:

New Jersey LCV stands with civil rights groups such as NAACP, Garden State Equality, and ACLU in opposition of this politically-motivated bill. The problem with this bill is it forces onerous requirements on civil rights, environmental, and other nonprofit groups, resulting in the marginalization of the voices of everyday New Jerseyans. It would clear the way for corporate interests, government contractors, and others to go unchecked without the same disclosure requirements. It will further tilt the public policy playing field in favor of billionaires and corporate insiders.

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
