New Jersey Prevention Network to Host Annual Addiction Conference: Engage + EMPOWER

TINTON FALLS, NJ (May 8, 2023) – The New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN), a public health agency working to create healthier communities by reducing the burden of substance misuse, addiction, and other chronic disease, is hosting its 23rd Annual Addiction Conference on May 18 and 19, 2023.

This no-cost virtual conference unites addiction professionals, treatment providers, public health officials, and national advocates to discuss the latest prevention and treatment research, trends, and best practices in substance use disorder (SUD).

Join over 2,000 attendees for interactive workshop sessions led by 17 experts in their field. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with experts in the field, share experiences and insights, and participate in interactive sessions to enhance knowledge and skills while earning renewal credits toward field certification.

“We are thrilled to host our 23rd Annual Addiction Conference and bring together experts from around the country to share their knowledge and expertise in the field of addiction prevention and treatment,” NJPN’s Executive Director Diane Litterer said. “Our theme for this year’s conference, Engage + EMPOWER, reflects our commitment to connecting professionals and promoting innovative strategies and best practices that support long-term wellness for those impacted by addiction and the professionals who aid them.”

The event will feature an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and workshops, covering topics such as:

• Evidenced-based substance use/misuse prevention strategies
• Advances in SUD treatment and recovery support
• Mindfulness in recovery
• Harm reduction best practices, including medication-assisted recovery
• Health equity and justice
• Advances in tobacco policy and regulation

• Sabrina N’Diaye, Integrative Psychotherapist and Founder of the Heart Nest Center for Peace and Healing
• Sam Quinones, Author and Journalist of “Dreamland” and “Least of Us”
• Brian King, Director of FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products
• Carlton Hall, President and CEO, Carlton Hall Consulting LLC
• Judson Brewer, Associate Professor & Director of Research and Innovation, Mindfulness Center

Virtual booths will be set up at the conference with team members available to meet and share mental health and substance use services and resources. The conference is open to all those interested in awareness, advocacy, and community initiatives addressing addictions as well as those interested in learning more about a career in the addictions field.
