TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA), the statewide trade association for investor-owned utilities, has named Christina Farrell as Director of Government and Public Affairs.

“Christina has earned a reputation as a consummate professional who is well-versed on legislative issues ranging from local government and housing to environmental and energy policy. During her decade-long career, she has developed a unique understanding of the complex issues facing the business community and utilities industry, allowing her to join NJUA and hit the ground running,” said Thomas R. Churchelow, Esq, President, New Jersey Utilities Association. “In the few months she’s been with NJUA, Christina has proven herself to be a valuable asset to the organization and the industry, working closely with utility government affairs and operations representatives in response to legislative proposals and has worked diligently to coordinate preparedness and response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Previously, Farrell served as an Associate Director at Monmouth University where she built strategic external relationships for the institution. Prior to that, she served as the Legislative and PAC Manager for the New Jersey Realtors® for nearly seven years. In that role, she provided lobbying support for federal, state, and local issues and managed the organization’s political action committee.

Farrell’s early career in the Legislature, where she staffed the Senate Environment and Energy Committee and Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, helped her build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and legislators on both sides of the aisle.

Farrell serves on the Board of Trustees for CASA of New Jersey, where she is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Resource Development Committee. She is also a governing member of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior, along with a minor in Political Science from Rutgers University. She has completed numerous leadership training courses, including her most recent with the Executive Leadership Academy in New York.

Farrell lives in Freehold Township with her husband, Ryan.
