NEW JERSEY WORKING FAMILIES ENDORSES ANDRE SAYEGH FOR MAYOR

PATERSON, NJ (April 17, 2018)—New Jersey Working Families Alliance announced their endorsement for Sixth Ward Councilman Andre Sayegh to be Paterson’s next mayor. In declaring their support for Sayegh, the organization cited Sayegh’s proven achievements in improving economic opportunity and public safety in the sixth ward, and his tireless work on behalf of Paterson’s families and children.

“As a councilman, Andre Sayegh has proven his commitment to equality and justice for all people, and to making Paterson a city where working families can raise their children in a diverse, thriving community,” said Analilia Mejia, Executive Director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance“Andre has opened preschools and has made the streets safer. He worked to have homeowners released from paying thousands of dollars a year in unnecessary flood insurance, helping them afford to stay in their homes. He is the leader Paterson needs now to ensure a future of opportunity and prosperity for all of Paterson’s diverse communities.”

The New Jersey Working Families Alliance is a grassroots independent political organization that fights for a government that represents the needs and values of working families, and for economic and social justice in New Jersey. The NJWFA organizes campaigns to advance progressive policies, and to elect candidates who share those values. The NJFWA is a state chapter of Working Families, a national organization.

“I am honored to have the support of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, an organization that champions the needs and dreams of our city and our people,” Andre Sayegh said. “Paterson has always been a city of hard working families, and they deserve a mayor who will work just as hard for them. We are doing that in the sixth ward, and with the support of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, we can make our city work for all Patersonians.”

Paterson’s municipal elections are May 8. Voters will cast ballots for mayor, and for three at-large council seats.

Councilman Andre Sayegh has represented Paterson’s Sixth Ward since he was first elected in 2008.  He previously served on Paterson’s Board of Education from 2004-2008. For more information about Councilman Sayegh and his campaign, visit andresayegh.com.
