New Year! New Politics! Flora Supports #MeToo Movement

“It is time for a change in our thinking. It can no longer be politics as usual. We need to do better when it comes to gender across the Garden State,” pledges US Congressional Democratic Primary candidate John Flora (NJ-10).

New Jersey’s District 10 progressive candidate in the upcoming June race is referring to the recent op-ed that caused a buzz in Trenton, as it depicts the harsh treatment of women in New Jersey politics.

“Not only do female politicians feel this abuse, but so do staffers and newspaper journalists,” said Flora. “This is unacceptable. The Boys Club antics have got to stop. Too many women get treated poorly by their male counterparts and it often goes unreported.”

The married Jersey City teacher has a daughter and two younger sisters himself. He supports the #MeToo movement and plans on helping in every way possible to prevent and remove these norms in politics in 2020 and beyond.

“Our political system lacks decorum. We have looked the other way for too long. It is a new year and we all need to make a commitment to doing better. A government doesn’t represent women if it turns a blind eye to how they are treated everyday by their male counterparts.”
