NEWARK FOP ENDORSES FONTOURA FOR SHERIFF

Newark – Newark Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 12, the largest police association in Essex County, today endorsed Armando Fontoura for re-election as Essex County Sheriff.

Newark FOP Lodge President James Stewart stated that Sheriff Fontoura has proven to be an invaluable assest to the Essex County
law enforcement community and our neighbors.

“He is a voice of reason which we can all rally around,” Stewart said.  “Sheriff Fontoura has continuously and unflinchingly demonstrated
his superior leadership skills in many vital police and community relations issues of mutual concern.  He is the first to lend a helping hand to all Essex County municipal police departments.  He is the first to take a prominent role in police – community relations.  He is the mainstay in securing the safety and security of all Essex County residents.  His department has saved Newark and Essex County taxpayers untold millions of dollars in serving as a regional public safety resource for law enforcement and emergency management events and incidents”.

The Newark FOP endorsement, the largest such group in Essex County, joins with the endorsements Fontoura has already received
from the Newark Superior Officers Association , the Essex County Chiefs of Police Association, the Hispanic Police Law Enforcement Society, other prominent state, regional and local office officials, clergy members, advocates for senior and youth groups, and local civic leaders.

“Based upon my accomplishments as Essex County Sheriff, I am humbled by the overwhelming support I have garnered from my
neighbors, local civic leaders, my partners in law enforcement and my associates in local, regional and state government,” Sheriff
Fontoura noted.
