NHCAC and NJPCA Celebrate National Health Center Week at Kick-Off Today

WHO: North Hudson Community Action Corporation (NHCAC), the New Jersey Primary Care Association, (NJPCA),Assemblyman Gary Schaer, Passaic Mayor Hector C. Lora, and other stakeholders will hold a kick-off event to highlight National Health Center Week on Monday.  National Health Center Week (August 12th- 18th) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) over the past five decades. Representatives from the United States Department of Health & Human Services, New Jersey Department of Health, Passaic County, Amerigroup NJ, Horizon NJ Health, WellCare, UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna Better Health of New Jersey will be in attendance.

WHAT: In New Jersey, Federally Qualified Health Centers serve over half a million patients, a number that continues to grow along with the demand for affordable primary care. Each year we celebrate the work and services Health Centers provide to special populations within their community on designated days during the week. Events happening throughout the state include health fairs, visits by Members of Congress and state officials to local health centers, press conferences, back-to-school drives, community breakfasts, patient appreciation events, free health screenings and much more.

WHEN: Monday, August 13th at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: 220 Passaic Street Passaic, New Jersey 07055 * Rain location will be inside 220 Bistro next door to the Health Center.

WHY: Every year, Health Centers throughout the country come together to celebrate the comprehensive array of affordable and quality services they provide. This year, Health Centers are recognizing the work of Health Care Heroes who are FQHC employees. These incredible individuals live and breathe the Health Center mission and exceed the call of duty to support health centers in providing quality health care for patients in the community.
