Nick Mammano Named President and Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: DEC. 20, 2024
(Lyndhurst, NJ) – The New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority (NJSEA) Board of Commissioners voted Thursday to appoint Nick Mammano as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2025.
“I am proud to have supported Nick Mammano to serve as the President and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and I commend the Board of Commissioners for approving his appointment,” stated Governor Phil Murphy. “Nick’s prior experience as Chief of Staff in addition to his years spent in public service make him uniquely qualified to lead the NJSEA as we ready our state to host the world’s largest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, in 2026.”
Nick has been with the NJSEA since 2023, first joining as Chief of Staff to President and CEO Paul Juliano, who is retiring effective December 31, 2024. Before the NJSEA, Nick worked as a consultant in the private sector and spent over eight years as Chief of Staff to State Senator Joseph A. Lagana.
“My time with the NJSEA has allowed me to see first-hand the incredible ways our work can have a positive impact on the region and statewide,” said Nick Mammano. “It is truly an exciting time to lead this Authority. Thoughtful planning will allow us to support word-class experiences for residents and visitors alike, while upholding our mandate to provide for the advancement of the District both economically and in the protection of our environment and natural resources. As we prepare to be on the world stage in 2026, I am committed to ensuring that the NJSEA operates as a model of excellence and collaboration.”
NJSEA Chairman John Ballantyne offered enthusiastic support for the incoming President and CEO. “Nick Mammano is an exceptional, dynamic leader whose tireless work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and thorough preparation make him the ideal choice as the next President and CEO of the Authority. Nick has been remarkable in mastering every facet of the NJSEA during his time here.”
Nick will lead the Authority’s broad mission to support sports and international events in New Jersey as well as its responsibilities as the regional planning and zoning agency for the over 30 square mile Meadowlands District, including a mandate to provide orderly development, sanitary disposal of waste and to protect the delicate balance of nature. The District consists of parts of 14 towns in Bergen and Hudson Counties.
The NJSEA also holds the land lease to and provides for the ongoing operation of the MetLife Sports Complex, which is home to MetLife Stadium, American Dream and the Meadowlands Racetrack. In June and July of 2026, the site will host eight matches for FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest sporting event in history, including the World Cup Final. The competition is projected to generate over $2 billion in economic impact, attract more than 1 million visitors, and support 14,000 jobs. The NJSEA also owns the Wildwood Convention Center and has the land lease for the Monmouth Park Racetrack.
“Nick Mammano possesses an unwavering commitment to doing right by constituents in the Meadowlands District and the entire State of New Jersey,” said Paul Juliano, outgoing NJSEA President and CEO. “His guidance, support and input as Chief of Staff have been invaluable to carrying out the NJSEA’s important work. I have every confidence that Nick will do a fine job heading the NJSEA in 2025, a critical year leading up to the World Cup.”
