NJ 15th district Assembly candidate Justin Tibbetts “doubles down” on property tax relief for senior citizens

NJ 15th district Assembly candidate Justin Tibbetts “doubles down” on property tax relief for senior citizens.

Trenton, NJ- October 24, 2018– Today, public servant and community leader Justin Tibbetts has announced his plan to double the senior citizen property tax deduction and to make it eligible for low income and middle class seniors.

“The recent tax increases have added to the burden on those with fixed incomes. My plan will provide immediate tax relief to those who need it most. My reforms to state government will result in property tax relief for all New Jerseyans.”

His property tax relief plan will double the property tax deduction for direct tax relief off of property tax bills. The current income limit for seniors is $10,000, which makes most seniors ineligible for tax relief. The Tibbetts plan will raise the eligibility income immediately to $50,000, per senior.

Assembly candidate Justin Tibbetts proposes a two percent cap on state spending, with any additional revenue required for property tax relief or reserved for state surplus to avoid tax increases during time of recession.

Additionally, Tibbetts will introduce reform laws to set term limits for state legislators to end the cycle of career politicians at the statehouse and a ban on legislators serving as lobbyists for special interest groups.

“We cannot bring long-term property tax relief to the people without first replacing the political status quo that created the burden in the first place. It is time the legislature represented the People, not the special interests.”
