NJ Chamber of Commerce President Tom Bracken’s Statement on Lesniak / Kyrillos Appointment

NJ Chamber of Commerce President Tom Bracken’s Statement on Lesniak / Kyrillos Appointment

The NJ Chamber of Commerce applauds Senate President Steve Sweeney for engaging former State Senators Ray Lesniak and Joe Kyrillos to help craft a replacement for New Jersey’s expired tax incentive programs.

The two former Senators earned the highest degree of respect from colleagues on both sides of the aisle during their service in Trenton and both have shown their focus to be on what is best for New Jersey especially with regard to economic development issues.

We urge the state legislature to work quickly.

Creating new tax incentive programs must be a very high priority.

Our business competitiveness is falling and New Jersey needs tax incentive programs to effectively compete with our neighboring states if we are to attract new business, new jobs and regenerate a business friendly environment.

Right now we have no incentives to offer while our neighboring states can offer full and robust incentive packages.

We have no more time to waste.
