NJ Citizen Action: Assembly Minority Leader Bramnick’s position on budget and taxes is immoral and indefensible

Trenton—New Jersey Citizen Action released the following statement today following State Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick’s press conferences on the state budget and taxes.

“Assembly Minority Leader Bramnick has taken the immoral and indefensible position that tax breaks for the very wealthy and corporate interests matter more than the pressing needs of middle- and working-class New Jersey families, who continue to struggle to make ends meet,” said Dena Mottola Jaborska, Associate Director for New Jersey Citizen Action. “We need to reverse the flawed policies of the Christie era, which saw funding for education, transportation, housing, healthcare and many other vital services and programs cut to dangerously low levels while leaving our state finances in a precarious position. The Leader’s extreme stance will only compound the effects of the Trump tax cuts, which benefited the wealthiest state residents and the largest corporations. It also goes against the wishes of the vast majority of New Jerseyans, who are in favor of taxing the wealthy to ensure our state’s most pressing needs are met. We urge the Minority Leader to reconsider his priorities, and look to New Jersey’s future rather than revisit the failed policies of the past.”
