NJ Citizen Action PAC Endorses Asm. Zwicker for LD-16 Senate Seat

Newark, NJ – March 9, 2021 – New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) has announced that the NJCA PAC endorses Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker for State Senate in the 16th Legislative District, for his consistent support of and leadership on progressive policy issues that improve the lives of low- to moderate-income families, women, people of color, workers, and consumers.

The organization’s priorities include paid time to care for working families, consumer financial protection, access to affordable, quality health care for all, addressing the student loan debt crisis, racial justice, tax fairness, and government that works for everyone, not just for corporate interests, the wealthy and the politically connected.

“Since he joined the Legislature in 2016, Assemblyman Zwicker has been a reliable and vocal supporter of working families and economic and racial equality in New Jersey,” said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director of New Jersey Citizen Action. “In order to bring about meaningful change we need progressive leaders like Andrew Zwicker in the State Senate.”

The NJCA PAC endorsement process examines an incumbent’s voting record and candidates’ responses to the organization’s questionnaire (found here: https://forms.gle/yaYZExJ2zCFRAZNB6), among other factors. Zwicker’s voting record in the Assembly aligns with NJCA’s legislative priorities, including healthcare coverage access, driver’s licenses for immigrants, voting rights, the millionaires’ tax, and housing relief. He has been a proven leader on pro-democracy issues – co-sponsoring legislation that enacted online voter registration and being the primary sponsor of legislation to enact early voting. The Assemblyman’s candidate questionnaire answers further affirm his commitment to the issues NJCA advocates for. He also recently publicly supported COVID-19 relief for immigrants, a critical community issue NJCA has been advocating for alongside partner groups.

NJCA is announcing further endorsements in the coming weeks as voting records and questionnaires are reviewed. Endorsed candidates are supported with outreach to media, partner organizations, allies, affiliates, and 20,000 members throughout New Jersey, as well as various levels of direct voter contact by phone, text and door-knocking.
