NJ Citizen Action’s Statement on the news of Congressman Bill Pascrell passing away
NEWARK: On the news of Congressman Bill Pascrell passing away today, New Jersey Citizen Action’s Director of Advocacy and Policy, Maura Collinsgru issued the following statement:
“New Jersey, and our nation, lost a great public servant today. For decades, Congressman Bill Pascrell championed legislation and policies that improved the lives of everyday New Jerseyans and working families throughout the country. He stood shoulder-to-shoulder with advocates and his constituents on issues that included access to affordable, quality healthcare and affordable housing. He pushed for strong financial protections for consumers from predatory companies, and helped ensure our wealthiest corporations pay their fair share in taxes.”
“Congressman Pascrell was an unwavering champion for democracy, who never let Americans forget that a sitting President had conspired to overthrow our federal government. He will be sorely missed for his dedication, his wit, for his willingness to always speak his mind, and for the intellect and acumen he and his staff brought to every issue he worked on. Rest in peace, Congressman.”
