NJ Housing and Community Development Network Statement on FY 2025 State Budget
TRENTON – Following Governor Phil Murphy’s presentation of the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey’s (the Network) President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:
“Everyone needs and deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. Ensuring that all NJ residents can exercise their human right to housing requires bold investments and solutions. We’re eager to learn more about the budget proposals announced today, especially the pilot program that would encourage the development of affordable accessory dwelling units which could help address our severe affordable home shortage.
“We applaud this Administration for its commitment to addressing our state’s housing crisis. We know there is much more to do, as we remain among the most expensive in the nation for renters. We can, and must, do more. We are encouraged by Governor Murphy’s support for the NJ Affordable Housing Trust Fund and look forward to protecting and preserving that resource again this year. We can HouseNJ by fully investing in the Fund that creates affordable home opportunities for our lower income residents.
“Our organization is proud to be part of a coalition calling on the reinstatement of the Corporate Business Tax, we commend the proposed Corporate Transit Fee to support a service hardworking families depend on. We look forward to seeing the details of this proposed budget and to working with the Murphy Administration and legislative leaders to strengthen our communities and keep NJ safe and stably housed.”
