NJ Housing & Community Development Association Shares Condolences on NJ Senator Ronald Rice’s Passing
TRENTON – Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (the Network) President and CEO Staci Berger issued the following statement on the passing of New Jersey Senator Ronald L. Rice:
“We are heartbroken and mourn the passing of Senator Rice. We were proud to honor him last year as a housing champion for his work as a fierce advocate for our most vulnerable neighbors and communities. Senator Rice was a true leader, serving with integrity and compassion, and fighting on behalf of communities of color as the head of the Legislative Black Caucus.
“It was a great honor working alongside Senator Rice whose contributions will forever make an impact on the lives of so many NJ residents. He was instrumental in the creation of the Lead Hazard Control Fund and the State Rental Assistance Program, two programs that are unique to NJ and exist only because he fought to make them a reality. He also shepherded the Foreclosure Mediation Program, renter protections and a host of other housing programs.
“Senator Rice leaves behind a lasting legacy, giving countless families an opportunity to live a better life. We send our sincere condolences to the Rice family and to those touched by his immeasurable contributions.”
