NJ Housing & Community Development Association Shares Condolences on The Honorable Mildred Crump’s Passing

TRENTON – Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (the Network) President and CEO Staci Berger issued the following statement on the passing of The Honorable Mildred Crump, the first Black female elected to Newark City Council and its first Black female council president:

“The Network extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mildred Crump. She was a champion for Newark’s most vulnerable residents and a dedicated partner to our members who are building strong, healthy, affordable neighborhoods in the city. She led with passion and compassion and as the first Black female to serve on the Newark City Council, made a lasting impact on the City of Newark and an inspiring legacy for all of us to follow.
