NJ LGBTQ Democratic Caucus: Happy Pride

Happy Pride

On behalf of our members and elected officials, we wish you Happy Pride! This season, we have so much to be thankful for.

From making diversity in their administration a top priority to signing key bills into law, Governor Phil Murphy and Lt. Governor Shelia Oliver have shown that they have the backs of the LGBTQ+ community in New Jersey. Highlights include bills such as S478 ScaAca (2R) “Babs Siperstein Law”, LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum, and the Ban on “Gay and Trans Panic” Legal Defense. In addition, they have established an open-door policy to the LGBTQ+ community such as hosting Pride, roundtable events, and LGBTQ appointments in key positions.

Key wins such as Bordentown Mayor Jennifer Sciortino, plus a field of LGBTQ+ candidates such as Vincent Solomeno running for State Senate and many others throughout the state give us hope and determination that we’re creating equitable representation in our beloved state.

Last year, so many planned Pride Month celebrations had been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and so it is more important than ever that our communities take the lead in celebrating this year, It’s the strong diversity and sense of community is what makes New Jersey strong.  For National Pride Month, let’s celebrate those strengths, our LGBTQ+ community, and show why it is so great to live in New Jersey.

For those municipalities, government offices, or houses of worship who would like to display a Rainbow Pride Flag during the June festivities and still need a flag, the New Jersey Democratic LGBTQ Caucus would like to help you!

We look forward to celebrating with you and thank you for your continued support.

Thank you,

Lauren Albrecht, Chair of NJ LGBTQ Democratic Caucus

Joe Forte, Vice-Chair of NJ LGBTQ Democratic Caucus
