NJ LGBTQ Dems Condemn FL “Don’t Say Gay” Bill

At a time when Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation is becoming increasingly pervasive throughout the United States, Florida’s lis seeking to force educators to be agents of discrimination and exclusion. Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, popularly called “Don’t Say Gay,” endeavors to limit school districts & their partners from allowing instruction or discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity, and also leaves the door open for outing students to parents.

New Jersey, under Governor Murphy’s leadership continues to move in the direction of inclusion and recognition, implementing an LGBTQ+-inclusive curriculum, codifying same-sex marriage rights into law, and establishing non-binary gender markers for licenses. Meanwhile, in states like Texas and Florida, Republicans are doing all they can to erase our community entirely. We stand with Florida’s brave students who have been pushing back against this discriminatory bill and call on Florida’s Senate to reject this dangerous legislation. LGBTQ+ kids matter and deserve support, and we will not sit idly and let their lives or futures be at risk.
