In the wake of the election of Louisiana Rep Mike Johnson to Speaker of the House, the New Jersey LGBTQ Democrats condemned this pick as “dangerous and foreboding,” says Chairwoman Lauren Albrecht. “Johnson’s abysmal record on LGBTQ rights begins decades ago with his service as Attorney to the ADF, an SPLC-designated hate group focused on legislating away LGBTQ rights. This politician has literally lobbied to criminalize LGBTQ relationships.” Albrecht continued to say, “their choice of election-denier Johnson to lead their Congressional delegation signals that the Republican party has moved away from reality and any attempt to conceal their blind hatred for LGBTQ Americans.”
