NJ NEEDS DIVERSE LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS
NJ NEEDS DIVERSE LEADERSHIP IN A TIME OF CRISIS
At a time of great peril for women in our country, here in NJ, we need political leaders with a vision to resist the divisive politics coming out of Washington D.C.
NJ needs leaders with a plan to engage its diverse population and energize voters to elect a new Governor to resist the policies inflicting pain and fear in our communities.
20% of NJ population is Latino, and 51% of those are Latina women. Women voters in our communities, like any other voters in NJ, care about solutions to their everyday concerns:
· a good paying job, paid family leave and sick-days,
· access to affordable healthcare for women, seniors and children
· protection to women’s reproductive healthcare choices
· reliable public transportation to get to and from work
· a solid education funding formula for our schools
· protections against Trump’s deportation policy threats
· A budget proposal that prioritizes the most vulnerable in our urban cities
NJ is a diverse state and to find real solutions to the issues outlined above, we need diverse leadership at all levels of government representing our communities. This includes the leadership in the Governor’s office, the Senate and the Assembly.
We at LUPE PAC urge the leadership of the Assembly and the Senate to focus on solutions to our State’s crisis. Leadership in both chambers should be inclusive of all NJ communities, including women and people of color.
We as voters will not accept anything less.
Statement will be read at today Working Families Press event by Patricia Campos-Medina, President, LUPE PAC
