NJ PBS Announces Launch of NJ Biz Beat with Raven Santana on Saturday, September 16

Series marks the network’s next evolution in covering the Garden State business community

September 15, 2023– NEWARK, NJ – NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced that its weekly business series, hosted by journalist Raven Santana, will premiere a new season with a new name: NJ Biz Beat with Raven Santana.  Formerly known as NJ Business Beat, the series will continue in its current broadcast schedule, airing Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on NJ PBS (check local listings) and streaming on MyNJPBS.org.

NJ Biz Beat with Raven Santana takes an in-depth look at the stories, trends and influencers shaping the Garden State’s business landscape, from entrepreneurs to consumers. Each week, journalist Raven Santana hosts insightful interviews with analysis of the top business trends, headlines and more. In this week’s premiere, Santana takes a look at the economic vision for Newark, interviewing Mayor Ras Baraka and local business leaders.

“I want this show to take a more personal look at business affairs in the state,” said Santana. “We’ll explore economic trends and policy affecting not just Main Street, but also the financial challenges that families and individuals face day to day.”

Santana assumed hosting duties for the previous iteration of the show, NJ Business Beat, last season upon the departure of former host and business correspondent Rhonda Schaffler.  Santana is an award-winning journalist and NJ Spotlight News correspondent who has covered the state’s business climate, the environment, healthcare issues including maternal health and the COVID-19 pandemic, DACA “Dreamers” recipients, legislation for undocumented workers and residents, and more during her tenure.

Funding support for NJ Biz Beat with Raven Santana  is provided by New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program.
