December 17, 2021 – Newark, NJ – NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced that its news division, NJ Spotlight News, is promoting Taylor Jung to social justice reporter. Jung will contribute to the newsroom’s multiplatform coverage, reporting directly to John P. McAlpin, Managing Editor of NJ Spotlight News.

“In her tenure with our newsroom, Taylor has brought valuable insight and perspective to our team on a variety of issues,” said McAlpin. “We are thrilled to have her focus that insight on the important topic of social justice full-time for NJ Spotlight News.”

Jung will contribute to the newsroom’s online news coverage at NJSpotlightNews.org and also periodically to the broadcast program, NJ Spotlight News with Briana Vannozzi, which airs weeknights at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on NJ PBS.

Prior to joining the NJ Spotlight News team as a social justice beat reporter, Jung was a production assistant and an associate producer for NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams and NJ Spotlight News with Briana Vannozzi, respectively. Much of Jung’s studies and reporting to date have focused on multi-racial identity and issues facing the BIPOC community. In particular, she has focused on Asian Americans and gentrification in NYC’s Chinatown. Her work was nominated for a Mid-Atlantic Emmy in 2018.

Jung is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and received her MS at Columbia Journalism School.
