NJ Working Families Alliance Statement on Rep. MacArthur’s response to CD3 Telephone Town Hall

NEW JERSEY– In response to Rep. MacArthur’s statement on the Telephone Town Hall with Sens. Menendez and Booker, NJ Working Families Alliance Executive Director, Analilia Mejia, issued the following statement:

“Last night, U.S. Sens. Bob Menendez and Cory Booker joined ordinary voters for a telephone town hall to discuss how the votes our representatives make in Washington D.C. impact the daily lives of their constituents. The Senators focused on investments we could have made in jobs and infrastructure if the Trump Administration hadn’t passed more than $2 trillion in tax cuts with Rep. MacArthur’s help.

Rep. MacArthur was the only member of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation to vote for the $2.2 trillion tax scam, and his constituents deserve to know how his votes have limited the government’s ability to invest in mass transit, repairing public schools, preparing for hurricanes and creating middle class jobs.

New Jersey’s working families deserve an infrastructure plan that fixes our crumbling bridges and school buildings while creating jobs, yet when given the opportunity Rep. MacArthur put millionaires and corporations first. For Rep. MacArthur to say Sen. Menendez is “injecting himself” in the CD-3 race by participating in this telephone town hall further demonstrates he is out of touch with his own constituents.”
