NJ Working Families Statement on Gov. Murphy Press Conference on $15

TRENTON- In response to Governor Murphy and Speaker Coughlin’s press conference in support of a $15 minimum wage bill, New Jersey Working Families Executive Director, Analiia Mejia, released the following statement:

“Advocates are thrilled to hear the Governor and Speaker join forces to champion the plight of close to 1 million New Jersey workers. We urge legislators to ensure no worker is left behind in the fight for $15. Close to 20% of the 1 million workers voted by both the Governor and Speaker are tipped workers, who struggle under the federal $2.13 hourly wage. Furthermore, the thousands of farmworkers who work in impossible heat and working conditions should not be denied the opportunity to raise themselves and their families.”
