Congressman Donald Norcross, CUHC’s Louis Bezich to Deliver Remarks

Academic leaders, medical industry experts, entrepreneurs, the investor community and public officials will gather in Camden on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at a special NJBIA event exploring how to leverage the synergy of South Jersey’s “EDS & MEDS” ecosystem to grow the region’s economy.

“EDS & MEDS: The Expanding South Jersey Ecosystem,” hosted by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Camden Adventure Aquarium.

The first panel discussion, “Building a Foundation for Growth,” will explore how the EDS & MEDS businesses in South Jersey are driving collaborative solutions for economic growth. The second panel discussion, “Strengthening the Workforce Pipeline,” will focus on building career pathways to help create jobs, tax revenue and economic opportunity in the region.

Congressman Donald Norcross, D-NJ, will deliver opening remarks before the keynote address by Louis Bezich, senior vice president, Strategic Alliances, Cooper University Health Care.  Bezich also chairs the Camden Higher Education and Healthcare Task Force, whose nine anchor institutions have a more than $2 billion economic impact on the city alone.

The task force members include CAMcare, Camden County College, Cooper University Health Care, Lourdes Health System, Rowan University, Rutgers-Camden, Virtua, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Rowan University/Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors. These institutions, combined with other private medical and health and educational social service agencies, provide nearly 55 percent of the jobs in Camden, according to a task force report.

The full “EDS & MEDS” agenda listing all the panelists and moderators can be found here. Media interested in covering this event should contact Bob Considine, 609-858-9502.
