NJBIA’s Healthcare IT Summit set for Nov. 1

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the APA Hotel in Woodbridge, the New Jersey Business & Industry Association will host the 2017 Healthcare IT Summit, where top executives from the industry will explore how information technology and the aggregation of data is transforming the healthcare delivery system.

The event also will feature keynote speeches from New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Cathleen D. Bennett and Senior Vice President of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, William J. Castner Jr.

Panelists will discuss the benefits, as well as the challenges, associated with collecting healthcare data online. Another important topic for discussion is how data aggregation impacts the growing field of population health as well as associated privacy issues involved with patient portals, administration and control of patients’ data, health apps, telemedicine and more.

“We know the use of centralized online health records has the potential to lower healthcare costs and produce better patient outcomes by eliminating the need for duplicative testing and reduce the chance of medical errors,” said NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka. “That’s especially important as the healthcare system moves from a fee-for-service to a value-based model based on patient outcomes. When health insurance costs less, it’s a win for both patients and their employers.”

The APA Hotel is located at 120 South Wood Avenue in the Iselin section of Woodbridge.
