NJCA Statement on Murphy Budget Address
Trenton—New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) Executive Director Dena Mottola Jaborska released the following statement today on Governor Phil Murphy’s budget address.
“We applaud Governor Murphy’s call for an additional $100 million to fund Cover All Kids, a program that has helped ensure all our children have access to affordable, quality health care. We also applaud the Governor’s call for some form of restoration of the Corporate Business Tax (CBT) surcharge. At a time when New Jersey’s working families and communities of color are struggling to afford basics such as food, utilities, housing, education, and healthcare, we need to explore all options to fund our state’s most pressing needs.
“We call on our Legislature to work closely with Governor Murphy on the restoration of the CBT. We also call on lawmakers to ensure New Jersey has the revenues to continue to expand access to affordable health care and address critical needs such as our affordable housing crisis. We look forward to working with our Legislature and the administration on these priorities, which will help build a New Jersey that works for everyone.”
