NJDSC Chairman Releases Statement on Banning of Abortion Bill by Trump Appointed Federal Judge

Chairman Jones slams decision as extremist and anti-science 

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones is releasing the following statement in response to a Trump-appointed federal judge’s ruling restricting access to Mifepristone, the pill used for over half of abortions in the United States:

“Clearly, the war on women’s rights and bodily autonomy continues as Republicans across the country refuse to listen to science and medical professionals when making decisions about reproductive health and freedoms. Mifepristone is safe and effective and its use has long been supported by leading medical organizations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The fact is that these continued attempts by conservative activist judges and politicians to limit access to safe abortion care will not stop abortions from happening – they will only put people’s lives in danger.

Here in New Jersey, Democrats continue to defend and expand reproductive freedom and abortion rights against both legal and legislative attacks. However, we must do our part and continue to vote for leaders who will protect their constituents from these threats.”
