NJDSC Chairman Releases Statement on Governor  Richard Codey Not Seeking Reelection

TRENTON, NJ –  In response to former Governor Richard J. Codey’s decision to not seek reelection to the New Jersey Senate after an extraordinary 50 years of dedicated and transformative leadership, NJDSC Chairman Leroy J. Jones Jr. is releasing the following statement:

 

“For five decades, Governor Codey has been a tireless advocate for the people of  our state, consistently demonstrating an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of New Jerseyans in every corner of our diverse communities. His legacy is a testament to his steadfast dedication to public service, and his impact can be seen in the countless lives he has touched and the positive changes he has initiated. Governor Codey’s leadership has been particularly influential in the realm of mental health advocacy, where he has been a driving force in raising awareness and championing policies that have improved access to care and reduced the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Governor Codey’s contributions will make a lasting impact, setting a standard for compassionate governance that will continue to guide our state’s policies for years to come.

 

As the Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, I join our party members and New Jerseyans across the state in expressing our profound gratitude to Governor Codey for his unparalleled service.
