Republican Jack Ciattarelli’s Failure to Invest in NJ’s Transit Infrastructure Literally Moved New Jersey Backwards

TRENTON, N.J. — Republican gubernatorial candidate Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli’s repeated failure to support critical transportation investments throughout his lengthy political career was bad for commuters and bad for our economy. Assemblyman Ciattarelli notably supported Chris Christie’s disastrous decision to cancel the ARC Tunnel project that would have dramatically increased passenger rail service into Manhattan, called for the delay of the completion of Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, and refused to properly fund public transit rail repairs, among other failures.

“Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli has a disastrous record of refusing to support essential transit and infrastructure investments that create good-paying jobs, benefit New Jersey commuters, and strengthen our economy,” said Saily Avelenda, Executive Director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. “As more New Jerseyans head back to their commutes, we need a proven leader who will properly fund our public transit system and road projects. A vote for Assemblyman Ciattarelli is not only a vote for someone who has cozied up to Donald Trump, it’s a vote for more traffic, more transit delays, less economic development, and a return to the transit failures of the Christie era. We won’t be dragged backward with Assemblyman Ciattarelli.”
