Surveys by Rutgers-Eagleton and Quinnipiac Show Massive Approval for Governor’s Handling of COVID-19 Crisis

TRENTON, NJ — Two new public polls released today both show Governor Phil Murphy’s job approval rating soaring to new heights as residents continue to overwhelmingly support his handling of the COVID-19 crisis. Conducted by Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute of Politics and Quinnipiac University, respectively, the polls mirror results released last month by Monmouth University. Taken together, the results paint a crystal clear picture — that New Jersey residents massively support the actions being taken by Governor Murphy, share his priorities and trust him to lead the state through this crisis.

“These new poll results continue to prove that New Jersey residents recognize the decisive and compassionate leadership Governor Murphy is showing each and every day and greatly appreciate his unwavering efforts to keep us all safe,” said NJDSC Chairman John Currie. “Our Governor has risen to the occasion during this crisis and we can all be confident that New Jersey is in good hands under Phil Murphy’s leadership.”

The Governor’s job approval rating is 77% positive to 21% negative, according to the Rutgers Eagleton poll. Seventy two percent of residents surveyed give the Governor an A or B grade on his handling of COVID-19. The results of the Quinnipiac survey show a similar trend, with the Governor receiving a 68%-23% approval rating and his handling of the crisis rated positively by 78% of respondents.
