NJGOP CHAIRMAN CRITICIZES GOVERNOR MURPHY’S LACK OF DUE DILIGENCE WITH TAXPAYER MONEY

New Jersey GOP Leader Doug Steinhardt says that he thinks NJ Republicans will do well during what he calls the "Murphy Midterms," referring to upcoming elections during the second year of Governor Phil Murphy's term.

 

NJGOP Chairman Criticizes Governor Murphy’s Lack Of Due Diligence With Taxpayer Money

Trenton, NJ – Earlier today, Governor Murphy announced a new labor agreement for state workers that will cost NJ taxpayers an additional $149 million. This came a day after Murphy announced the agreement, but could not provide the cost. Why? Because he said he didn’t know.

 In reaction, NJGOP Chairman Steinhardt released the following statement:

“How can the chief executive of any entity charged with safeguarding other people’s money enter into a contract before you know the cost?” Chairman Steinhardt asked. “In the business world, you’d lose your job. In the political world, they make you Governor. Before NJ gives away another $149 million dollar public sector pay raise, at least the perception of a little due diligence might soften the blow. In the meantime, if Phil Murphy needs help reigning in costs, maybe he should start including some Republicans.”
