NJGOP Chairman Criticizes Governor Murphy’s Lack Of Due Diligence With Taxpayer Money
.
Trenton, NJ – Earlier today, Governor Murphy announced a new labor agreement for state workers that will cost NJ taxpayers an additional $149 million. This came a day after Murphy announced the agreement, but could not provide the cost. Why? Because he said he didn’t know.
.
In reaction, NJGOP Chairman Steinhardt released the following statement:
.
“How can the chief executive of any entity charged with safeguarding other people’s money enter into a contract before you know the cost?” Chairman Steinhardt asked. “In the business world, you’d lose your job. In the political world, they make you Governor. Before NJ gives away another $149 million dollar public sector pay raise, at least the perception of a little due diligence might soften the blow. In the meantime, if Phil Murphy needs help reigning in costs, maybe he should start including some Republicans.”
