NJGOP Chairman: Tom Malinowski Owes Voters An Explanation Proving He Will Stand Up To Anti-Semitism
Trenton, NJ – NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt is calling on Tom Malinowski to explain his defense of a subordinate who was suspended without pay and investigated for collecting Nazi memorabilia.
Democrat nominee for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional district, Tom Malinowski, worked for the organization, Human Right Watch, from 2001 to 2013.

During that time, one of his top advisors, Marc Garlasco was suspended without pay and investigated for his personal obsession with collecting Nazi memorabilia. He went so far as to put a vanity license plate on his car that was a Nazi World War II code for “Heil Hitler”.

“New Jersey and the Jewish community deserve Congressional representatives who will jump into action at the sight of even the slightest sign of anti-semitism,” said Chairman Steinhardt. “Tom Malinowski stood by his senior advisor as he obsessively collected Nazi memorabilia to the point where his organization felt it necessary to suspend him. Voters deserve to know why Malinowski felt compelled to defend someone whose obsession with Nazi culture went beyond someone who merely ‘collect[ed] military items’.”*

*EDITOR’S NOTE

In fact, Garlasco resigned after an internal review at the organization. An initial GOP press release incorrectly linked to a statement falsely attributed to Malinowski, who this morning told InsiderNJ that he condemned Garlasco’s Nazi memorabilia collecting.
