NJPEC AIDS SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER IN CLASSIFYING THE “NEW JERSEY PROJECT” AND “MOMS FOR LIBERTY” NJ CHAPTERS AS ANTI-GOVERNMENT HATE GROUPS.
Over the past year, the New Jersey Public Education Coalition (NJPEC) has been working with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to identify “hate and anti-government” groups in New Jersey. NJPEC has provided SPLC with dozens of screenshots and other documents proving that the “New Jersey Project” falls within the classification of a hate and anti-government group.
On June 4, 2024, the Southern Poverty Law center released their 2023 national report of “Hate and Anti-Government” groups. The New Jersey portion of the report adds the “New Jersey Project” to the list as well as six New Jersey chapters of Moms for Liberty.

The New Jersey Project and its sister organization, “NJ Schools” (formerly NJ Fresh Faced schools), use social media and blogs to harass, intimidate and bully individuals and organizations in an attempt to silence anyone who disagrees with them. Their members promote conspiracy theories as a part of a disinformation campaign to vilify teachers, school librarians, the NJEA and the New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL), among others.
Surprisingly, a number of New Jersey legislators are members of this hate organization’s Facebook page or actively align with and work with the New Jersey Project.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is the premier U.S. nonprofit organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other hard right extremists – including the Ku Klux Klan, the neo-Nazi movement, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, antigovernment militias, Christian Identity, anti-Semitic, anti-LGBTQ adherents and others ((https://www.splcenter.org). They monitor hate and antigovernment extremist groups throughout the United States and expose their activities to the public, the media and policy makers. SPLC is currently tracking more than 1,500 extremist groups operating across the country. SPLC publishes investigative reports and offers expert analysis to lawmakers, the media and the public. They spot warning signs and intervene earlier by supporting grassroots partners.
The New Jersey Public Education Coalition (NJPEC) is a nonpartisan grassroots organization of educators, administrators, education professionals, municipal leaders and representatives as well as concerned and involved parents and partnering organizations. The Coalition also has partnerships with dozens of like-minded organizations throughout the State of New Jersey and nationally. We work with government officials, division of the government and our legislators to protect public education. The primary goal of NJPEC is to preserve and protect diversity and inclusion in our public schools while ensuring that every child has a safe and inviting place to learn, free from harassment, intimidation and bullying.
