NJPP: EDA Board Must Resign to Regain Taxpayers’ Trust

Brandon McKoy

Yesterday, Governor Murphy called for the resignations of the appointed board members of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA). This follows calls from NJPP and members of the Better Choices for New Jersey coalition for EDA board members to step down in wake of the Comptroller’s scathing audit and the corruption uncovered by the governor’s task force.

BRANDON McKOY, PRESIDENT, NEW JERSEY POLICY PERSPECTIVE:

“New Jersey’s tax subsidy programs need a significant overhaul and the call for the EDA board’s resignations is long overdue. This is a critical and necessary step for the EDA to regain the public’s trust and to ensure tax dollars are no longer wasted. The state simply cannot afford overly generous and ineffective corporate subsidies that crowd out funding for critical investments that benefit all residents, like education and transit infrastructure. We thank Governor Murphy for holding the EDA board accountable and look forward to working with him and the Legislature on future reforms.”
