NEW REPORT: Despite the Myths, NJ’s ACA Marketplace is Working Well
Despite the efforts of the Trump administration and many Congressional leaders, today the Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land. This is, without a doubt, good news for the tens of millions of Americans, and hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans, who have been able to obtain affordable health care under the ACA. We’ve been able to preserve the progress we’ve made.
But that progress is still under threat. While full repeal of the ACA seems off the table for now, health care remains under attack at several levels – from dismantling Medicaid through the federal budget process to administrative actions that the President has threatened which would disrupt the workings of the ACA.
The report we released today focuses on some of those immediate threats, and explains what the Christie administration and New Jersey’s members of Congress can do to help extinguish them. But more than anything, it tackles head-on the core myth that has driven the efforts to get rid of the ACA for years: that it is “not working” and, in particular, that the marketplace is caught in a downward spiral of unaffordability.
This, as our report clearly shows, is not true – and it is particularly not true here in New Jersey.
