NJUA’S FARRELL PROMOTED TO SENIOR DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Trenton — The New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) today announced that Christina Farrell has been promoted from Director of Government and Public Affairs to Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs.

“This past year saw many challenges for the utility industry and business community. At every turn, Christina was there for our member organizations to guide and assist them. She knows the issues and how to communicate what is best needed for those we represent. This promotion is more than just well deserved: it is emblematic of NJUA’s continued desire to best serve our industry and New Jersey,” said Thomas R. Churchelow, Esq, President and CEO of the NJUA.

In 2021, Farrell worked with legislators and state officials to establish sensible protocols that would benefit all customers and businesses during the utility shutoff moratorium. She also pushed for maximized funding for utility assistance to help customers and utilities get back on the right track as we look to enter a post-COVID world.

Farrell joined the NJUA in January 2020. Previously, she served as an Associate Director at Monmouth University where she built strategic external relationships for the institution. She also served as the Legislative and PAC Manager for the New Jersey Realtors® for nearly seven years. In that role, she provided lobbying support for federal, state, and local issues and managed the organization’s political action committee. Her early career in the Legislature, where she staffed the Senate Environment and Energy Committee and Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee, helped her build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and legislators on both sides of the aisle.

Farrell serves on the Board of Trustees for CASA of New Jersey, where she is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Resource Development Committee. She is also a governing member of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behavior, along with a minor in Political Science from Rutgers University. She has completed numerous leadership training courses, including her most recent with the Executive Leadership Academy in New York. She lives in Freehold Township with her husband, Ryan.

The New Jersey Utilities Association is the statewide trade association for investor-owned utilities that provide essential water, wastewater, electric, natural gas and telecommunications services to New Jersey residents and businesses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. NJUA has provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and a unified voice in the public policy arena for its members since 1915.
