Norcross, Alzheimer’s Association to Hold Roundtable with South Jersey Seniors
WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow, Friday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m., Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) and the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter will hold a roundtable discussion with seniors and members of the community to talk about Alzheimer’s and related disorders. Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disorder and this nation’s only leading cause of death without a prevention, cure or way to slow its progression. Five million Americans have it, including an estimated 200,000 younger than 65 who are living with Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s.
The conversation will allow seniors, caregivers, healthcare industry professionals and Alzheimer’s Association staff to speak frankly with Norcross and tell their stories about how Alzheimer’s and related disorders affect them, their family members and clients.
Some of the topics will include how to:
- Increase the commitment to Alzheimer’s research specifically through support of an additional $425 million in FY19 for Alzheimer’s research activities at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Build an Alzheimer’s public health infrastructure through support of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act
- Educate providers on palliative and hospice care and ensure an adequate, well-trained palliative care workforce
Reporters interested in attending are asked to please RSVP to Ally.Kehoe@mail.house.gov.
