Norcross Announces More Than $700K for South Jersey Health Centers
CHERRY HILL, NJ – Today, U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced that the Osborn Family Health Center, CAMcare Health Corporation and Project H.O.P.E. will receive a total of $727,683 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Center Program.
“Everyone ought to have access to quality health care – it’s that simple, and community health centers play an important role in ensuring there’s access for all,” said Congressman Norcross. “Investments like these improve the well-being of our neighbors and friends, help us battle the disease of addiction at home and support jobs for hard-working health care professionals who devote their time to helping others.”
South Jersey healthcare facilities to receive:
- $650,000 to Osborn Family Health Center, which provides patients with access to primary health care.
- $43,683 to CAMcare Health Corporation, which has provided health care to Camden and Gloucester counties since 1978.
- $34,000 to Project H.O.P.E., which specializes in the health and well-being of homeless residents in Camden.
“Osborn has served the city of Camden and the surrounding communities since 1974,” said Shawne Cuilla, RN, MSN, Executive Director and CEO of Osborn Family Health Center. “This grant award will allow us to expand our Behavioral Health services and improve access to our primary care patients through expanded office hours. We will continue to challenge ourselves with innovative healthcare models while working closely with our Primary Care Association partners. Together, we can make a difference.”
“Our goal is to use this award to further support our quality improvement efforts while continuing to provide our patients with holistic Community Health Center services,” said Mark Robert, President and CEO of CAMcare Health Corporation. “These patients need support with breaking down both the clinical and social barriers to their care. We look forward to continuing and expanding our partnerships with community and local government agencies to work together to improve the quality of health for our city’s residents.”
“This one-time HHS Health Center Quality Improvement Award will be used by Project H.O.P.E. to improve the overall quality, efficiency, and value of the health care services provided at our health center,” said Patricia DeShields, Executive Director of Project H.O.P.E. “The funding will enable Project H.O.P.E. to enroll our Medical Assistants in training to expand their professional scope of work and become more integrated and integral members in our primary care teams. The award will expand Project H.O.P.E.’s current quality improvement infrastructure.”
The Health Center Program is overseen by HHS’ Health Resources and Services Administration and aims to improve health care access and strengthen the health workforce. Nearly 26 million Americans rely on HRSA-funded medical centers.
