Norcross Appointed to Democratic Leadership Position for 117th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced today that he has been re-appointed by Majority Whip James E. Clyburn to serve as an assistant whip, where he will be responsible for helping build unity among House Democrats and advising his colleagues on upcoming legislation.

“It’s an honor for me to serve in this role with Majority Whip Clyburn and House Democratic Leaders to support an agenda that creates jobs and protects workers,” said Congressman Norcross. “All my life I’ve fought for working men and women – and today that fight is more important than ever. I am committed to working to reverse the damage done over the last four years and implement the Biden-Harris Administration’s policies to build back better and provide Americans with much-needed pandemic relief.”

Norcross was recently appointed to serve on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and was re-appointment to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Education and Labor in the 117th Congress. In addition, Norcross was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and was re-selected to be the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee’s Parliamentarian. He recently created the Labor Caucus, intended to advance the needs of the labor movement, combat the issues facing working families and connect legislators directly with unions and union leaders. Norcross is also the co-founder of the Building Trades Caucus and Vice-Chair of the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic.
