NOW LAW: Corrado Bill Designates February as ‘Career and Technical Education Month’

Legislation sponsored by Senator Kristin Corrado to highlight and promote the many benefits of career and technical education has been signed into law.

“Technical schools can open the door to in-demand jobs and high-paying careers,” said Corrado (R-40). “From engineering technologies to construction trades, vocational education fills a growing need for skilled workers in various industries. The designation of February as ‘Career and Technical Education Month’ will help us recognize the importance of New Jersey’s 21 county vo-tech schools and all they do to ready the next generation of tradespeople.”

Senator Corrado’s bipartisan joint resolution, AJR-180/SJR-112, would annually designate the month of February as “Career and Technical Education Month” in New Jersey.

“Trade schools can be a smart investment for recent high school graduates and those who want to acquire sought after workforce skills,” added Corrado. “It’s important to note that the cost of a technical education is far lower than a typical four year university degree. New Jersey’s technical and career colleges are leading the way to well-paying jobs in a long lasting occupation.”

The joint resolution requests that the Governor annually issue a proclamation calling upon students, parents, and citizens of the state to learn more about career and technical education, county vocational-technical school programs, and well-paying career pathways that can be launched with an industry credential or a technical degree.
