NY CONGRESSWOMAN GRACE MENG, VICE CHAIR OF THE DNC, ENDORSES JANNIE CHUNG FOR NJ STATE ASSEMBLY

WESTWOOD, NJ – Today, Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-NY), Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), endorsed Jannie Chung in her bid for New Jersey State Assembly.

Chung is the Democratic candidate in New Jersey’s 39th Legislative District which encompasses twenty towns in Bergen County and three towns in Passaic County. If elected, Chung would be the first Korean American to ever serve in the New Jersey State Legislature.

“As a Councilwoman from Closter, Jannie Chung has proven to be a strong voice for New Jersey families and I wholeheartedly support sending her to Trenton,” said Meng. “Her commitment to the AAPI community and fighting for all the hard-working residents in the 39th District will be a crucial addition to New Jersey’s legislature. I am proud to endorse her candidacy.”

“Representative Meng’s leadership on national issues has been inspiring to me as a woman in politics,” said Chung. “Her endorsement is an honor.”

Chung presently serves as a member of the City Council in Closter, New Jersey, and works as a small business consultant. She moved to Closter with her family when she was eight years old. The child of Korean immigrants, Jannie learned her English, math, and entrepreneurial skills while working from a young age in her parents’ grocery and fish store.
