Ocean County Democratic Women’s Caucus Hold Event With First Lady Tammy Murphy

First Lady Tammy Murphy made a special appearance Tuesday May 22nd, at an event in support of the Ocean County Democratic Women’s Caucus.  The First Lady spoke before a crowd of over 120 people at the River Rock Restaurant in Brick. In her speech, she emphasized Governor Murphy’s numerous achievements, especially in regards to women’s issues.  She highlighted the restoration of funding for Planned Parenthood and the guarantee of equal pay for equal work. She also emphasized the Murphys’ commitment to the Democrats in Ocean County, assuring the crowd that she and Phil would be back to visit as often as necessary to support Ocean County’s Democratic Candidates.

 

The evening also included a speech from Colleen Mahr, Mayor of Fanwood, First Vice Chair of the Union County Democrats and President-Elect of the N.J. League of Municipalities.  Mayor Mahr shared insights from her personal journey as one of the longest serving female mayors in the state. Amber Gesslein, Candidate for Monmouth County Freeholder, also spoke about the unique role of women in politics.  Both speakers encouraged women to step up to run for office, to run with confidence, and to be bold in their fundraising efforts.

 

The mission of the Ocean County Democratic Women’s Caucus is to recruit and support women candidates at every level; to educate and engage women to participate in the political process; and to advocate for legislative policies that enhance women’s lives.  Membership is open to all registered Democrats who identify as women.
