COUNTY REGISTER SAYS MCGREEVEY “FELON FUNDRAISER” IS ANOTHER WARNING FOR CORRUPTION IN JERSEY CITY
JERSEY CITY– Ex-Governor Jim McGreevey’s habit of raising campaign cash from convicted felons is a sign of what kind of mayor he would be for Jersey City according to Hudson County Register Jeff Dublin.
George Gilmore, a powerful South Jersey Republican Political Boss, is hosting a McGreevey for Mayor fundraiser this Wednesday. Gilmore is the Chairman of the Ocean County Republican Party, the strongest GOP county organization in NJ. Gilmore is also a convicted felon who was pardoned by Donald Trump as he left office in 2020.
“The fact that McGreevey has the gall to put this convicted crooked politician’s name on a formal printed invitation shows that he has no shame. It speaks volumes about his arrogance and lack of integrity,” says Dublin. “We can’t let the most corrupt governor in NJ history become the most corrupt mayor. That is not going to happen.”
McGreevey, who describes Gilmore as an old friend, has previously been criticized for accepting over $50,000 in current campaign contributions raised by Charles Kushner, another convicted felon close to Trump. “Kushner controlled McGreevey like a puppet on a string before he went to prison and he still has enormous influence over him today.” Charles Kushner is Jared Kushner’s father and Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law.
The CNN documentary “United States of Scandal” about America’s most crooked politicians highlighted Kushner’s control over the disgraced ex-governor before his resignation.
